One short day in Zagreb! We had a 12 hour layover and made the most of it seeing the city! I was really excited to see St Mark’s Church with the unique roof. We visited Ban Jelacic Square, walked along Tkalciceva Street, and wandered around both upper and lower town. We saw the National Theatre, Lotrscak Tower, and lots of pretty parks. We also visited Tunel Gric, a WWII bomb shelter and got to walk through it. Afterwards we took the funicular back to lower town and ended our day at the Botanical Gardens. We particularly enjoyed the “rumba lawn mower”. It was great to have some unplanned time in the capital of Croatia! Now we are safely in Sofia!
